Pseudohypoparathyroidism

A rare genetic disorder in which the body does not respond to parathyroid hormone, a hormone made by the parathyroid glands. Parathyroid hormone (PTH) regulates calcium and phosphate levels. The levels of calcium in the blood typically are low with this disorder, and the levels of phosphate in the blood are high. This hereditary condition is often associated with short stature, low normal intelligence, seizures, cataracts and other abnormalities of the endocrine system.
