UH Rainbow receives $32.5 million gift

The Rainbow Babies & Children’s Foundation has made a monumental $32.5 million gift in honor of UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital’s 125th anniversary.

The Rainbow Foundation has been raising money and supporting the nationally renowned children’s hospital since nine young Cleveland women came together to form the Rainbow Circle of King’s Daughters on Thanksgiving Day in 1887.

The Rainbow Foundation today remains an independent collaboration of civic-minded women who promote and support the hospital. With 36 current board of trustees members, led by President Dinah Kolesar, and 102 past trustees, the Rainbow Foundation advocates for children and generates financial, corporate and community support to augment the hospital’s mission.

“Through their remarkable vision, the Rainbow Foundation members have demonstrated their passion for our beloved children’s hospital and children in our community,” said Patricia DePompei, President of UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and UH MacDonald Women’s Hospital. “This transformational gift – the largest in Rainbow’s history – represents an unprecedented investment, which will help us continue to serve our nation’s children as one of the top pediatric hospitals in the country.”
