ElderCenter Adult Day Care
Professional Adult Day Services Offered Through the ElderCenter
University Hospitals Parma Medical Center understands that caring for an impaired or frail adult is difficult to do alone. That is why we developed our full-service adult day care center, the ElderCenter. UH Parma Medical Center’s ElderCenter is designed as an alternative to nursing homes, while offering the peace of mind and capabilities of a full-service facility. Because we know that the care and well-being of a loved one is always top priority for family members, we treat our ElderCenter members like members of our own family.
About the ElderCenter
ElderCenter is a non-profit, secured, wheelchair-accessible facility that can provide a few hours or full days of rest to adults in need.
Participants range in age from 18 to 100+ years old with varying ability levels. Each participant has a personalized plan of care tailored to meet his or her individual social, emotional, recreational, physical and mental needs. Our members look forward to visiting the ElderCenter to participate in activities appropriate for mild to moderately impaired adults.
What to Expect During a Typical Day

Beyond Driving with Dignity: This driver self-assessment is a program of Keeping Us Safe, a national organization founded by a retired Ohio State Highway Patrolman to keep older drivers safe on the roads. A licensed practical nurse (LPN) experienced in working with older adults and professionally certified for this program conducts the driver self-assessment. The program costs $250 for the self-assessment, which includes a workbook and resources to keep.
For more information on Beyond Driving with Dignity or to register for the driver self-assessment, please call 440-743-2777.
The Club: A retreat for individuals experiencing mild memory loss, The Club provides a structured social program for members who may have mild cognitive impairment or be entering the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease, suffering some losses such as job skills, social status, initiative and judgment. However, members must still be able to manage personal care needs, including medication. Members must have a social presence to take part in guiding The Club’s daily activities, which may include discussions, reminiscence sessions, field trips and exercise.
