Dr. Alperin joined the University Hospitals Department of Ophthalmology in July of 2012. She practices comprehensive optometry with a specialization in cornea, contact lenses and refractive surgery. As a Senior Instructor at Case Western Reserve University she teaches optometry externs and ophthalmology residents.

Dr. Alperin was born and raised in Farmington Hills, Michigan. She attended Michigan State University where she graduated with a B.A. in Communications, Arts and Sciences. She attended The Ohio State University College of Optometry where she earned her doctorate in Optometry. Dr. Alperin completed her Cornea, Contact Lens and Refractive Surgery residency from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. Immediately following residency Dr. Alperin began working at University Hospitals.

Her clinical interests include specialty contact lenses including sclera lenses and multifocals. She has a special interest in the utilization of anterior segment OCT in fitting such lenses and has presented a poster at the American Academy of Optometry annual meeting on the topic. Dr. Alperin was recently published in Optometry and Vision Science for her work on racial variations on corneal asphericity.

Dr. Alperin is a member of the American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association and the Ohio Optometric Association.

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized.
