Many common medical concerns, as well as everyday stress, can be greatly reduced through massage therapy. At the Center for Women’s Health, you will find several types of this healing treatment:
- Therapeutic Massage—promotes integration of mind, body and spirit; especially helpful in the easing of symptoms of fibromyalgia, back and neck pain, musculoskeletal problems and headache pain.
- Stone Massage—uses the residual heat of stones to cause relaxation, soothe the nervous system and relieve the effects of stressors; stones of various sizes and weights are placed on the body for warmth and therapeutic pressure.
- Prenatal Massage—relieves discomfort and increases sense of energy in mothers-to-be; also can be used to loosen tight muscles, calm the nervous system and increase circulation and joint flexibility.
- Infant Massage—aids in promoting baby’s sleep, integrating newborn’s nervous system, easing digestion and encouraging communication between baby and caregiver.
- Reflexology—used to enhance the body’s ability to adjust and find balance during times of stress; skillful application of pressure to specific points in the feet and hands can improve circulation, boost oxygen and nutrients to muscles and other tissues and speed the elimination of waste products. The reflexology treatment is combined with sea salt therapy.
