Some of the most common vulvo-vaginal disorders we treat include:

  • Vestibulitis. Vaginal burning or stinging that is aggravated by intercourse, the insertion of tampons or internal gynecological exams. It most commonly occurs in women 20-50 years of age and often develops after genital infections.
  • Vulvodynia. This is chronic pain or discomfort around the opening of your vagina, called the vulva, for which there's no identifiable cause and which lasts at least three months.
  • Vulvar and vaginal atrophy (VVA). This is caused by decreased estrogen in the vaginal tissue. Symptoms include dryness, irritation, soreness, painful intercourse as well as urinary frequency, urgency and urge incontinence. A multidisciplinary approach that includes medications, hormone therapy and pelvic floor therapy may be required to manage this disorder.
  • Vaginismus. This is a condition in which the muscles of the vagina tighten or spasm involuntarily, making sexual intercourse difficult or impossible. It can also interfere with the insertion of tampons. Our experts may prescribe vaginal dilators to gently stretch the muscles and increase blood flow to the vaginal tissues.
  • Dermatological conditions of the vulva
