Breast for Success

Breast for Success Offers Education and Support to Help New Moms and Dads Be Successful with Breastfeeding

Breast for SuccessThe Breast for Success program at University Hospitals was developed to educate new mothers and fathers about breastfeeding and to help them be successful with breastfeeding their newborns.

Breastfeeding is a powerful tool in raising a happy, healthy child. It helps build an infant’s immune system, lowers the risk of infant death, decreases the risk of developing obesity, asthma, and other conditions, and may even contribute to higher intelligence and faster development. Breastfeeding benefits parents, too, lowering certain health risks for the mother, helping to create a bond between baby and both mother and father, encouraging cooperative parenting, and bringing the family closer together.

Breastfeeding Resources for Families

Breast for Success offers a variety of tools and resources for the whole family as they begin to care for their newborn. New parents enrolled in the program benefit from the help and support of our certified health workers and certified lactation counselor, who make both pre- and postnatal home visits to assist the parents with breastfeeding and answer their questions.

We also offer educational resources for both moms and dads, including tips for successful breastfeeding, answers to frequently asked questions, clearing up common misconceptions about breastfeeding, and ways fathers can be involved in the breastfeeding process.
