Social Work Services
When you have a diagnosis of cancer, you may face many changes about how you look and feel, what you are able to do and decisions you must make. You may begin to look for support and guidance as you hear about treatment plans and coping with cancer in your life. Ireland Cancer Center Oncology social workers are professionals with experience to assist you and your family with practical and emotional problems that occur with a cancer diagnosis. Oncology social workers at the Cancer Center are knowledgeable about the course of cancer, the treatment and side effects. We understand how difficult cancer treatments can be for you and your family. Our services include support, education, guidance about after-hospital care needs, and referrals to hospital and community resources.

The oncology social worker can meet with you and/or your family to talk about ways you can get help. Your concerns can often be matched to available community resources. We can provide assistance with transportation arrangements, financial concerns, disability applications, insurance problems, employment, and school issues. Oncology social workers also provide short-term individual, family and group counseling.
