Nutrition Services
When you have a diagnosis of cancer, nutrition becomes a critical part of your therapy. Eating adequately before, during, and after treatment helps you feel better, stay stronger and recover faster. Irealan Cancer Center clinical oncology dietitians can help you cope with nutrition-related side effects of therapy and give you tips to maintain proper nutrition during this often difficult time.

At the Ireland Cancer Center, a registered dietician is available to help patients maintain a healthy diet and sense of well-being throughout treatment. The dietician works directly with other members of the patient care team to develop a careplan that is tailored to each patient’s specific needs. Services include:

  • Nutritional screening
  • Evaluation including nutritional history, dietary habits, body measurements, and blood tests
  • Individualized recommendations of nutritional therapy and support
  • Early interventions to reduce the impact of cancer therapy on the overall nutritional status of the patient and to maximize nutritional intake
  • Ongoing monitoring of patient’s nutritional status and response to therapy
  • Written educational materials
  • Information about nutritional complimentary therapies
