University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center offers comprehensive clinical services for thoracic and esophageal cancer. Fellowships and other opportunities in medical education are a key part of University Hospitals mission.

UH Seidman Cancer Center provides coordinated cancer care through disease-specific teams. They evaluate each patient, collaborating with family physicians for treatment and long-term management. As a tertiary referral center, we review routine and complex cases. And our experts consult on decisions regarding multimodal care and neoadjuvant treatments.

With one call to our referral line referring physicians can access an expert within 24 hours.

Hematology and Oncology Medical Fellowship

The Hematology and Oncology Cancer Fellowship Training Program provides qualified and authoritative clinical and research training.

The fellowship is available to qualified internal medicine graduates and is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Two- and three-year training programs in hematology and/or medical oncology are available.

The program provides in-depth exposure to all aspects of hospital-based cancer care and research, with rotations through specialties including thoracic cancer.

On completion, physicians will be qualified to practice independently within their field of expertise, and will:

  • Meet requirements for board eligibility set by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
  • Have a broad understanding of clinical aspects regarding subspecialties
  • Gain clinical expertise in diagnosis, treatment and management
  • Have experience in both clinical research and basic or translational research
  • Be published in peer-reviewed journals, with the opportunity to present research results at national society meetings
