University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center Health Care Team Fully Prepares Patients for Bladder Cancer Treatment

A patient undergoing a surgical or minimally invasive treatment for bladder cancer will need to prepare his or her bowels prior to surgery. Urologic Oncology Center team requests that patients follow the instructions below to be prepared for the procedure.

Patients should not eat or drink anything after midnight the evening before surgery. They should drink two bottles of magnesium citrate, which can be purchased at the local pharmacy, around noon the day before surgery. This product will completely empty the patient’s bowels prior to the procedure.
