University Hospitals Ireland Cancer Center now University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center physicians and nurses take pride in providing cancer patients and their families with exceptional, compassionate care. The addition of the Schneider Healing Garden located on the campus of UH Seidman Cancer Center enhances the visitors’ hospital experiences.
The garden graces the hospital’s landscape, offering outlets to catch a breath of fresh air, socialize or sit in quiet contemplation. Patients, family members, caregivers, volunteers and staff will have opportunities to rejuvenate emotionally, psychologically and physically.
Evidence-Based Design
Designers used evidence-based design concepts to create a healing environment that considered patients’ health care needs. Evidence-based design quantifies a facility’s effect on medical outcomes, staff satisfaction and facility operations. Studies have shown that the elements of hospital healing gardens work to counter and reduce the stresses of illness and hospitalization. The sensory stimuli help soothe and create a sense of hospitality and solace.
