  • Salicylate (Blood)

    This test looks for high levels of salicylate, the main ingredient in aspirin. It may be used to diagnose an aspirin overdose or to monitor people taking high doses for arthritis.

  • Salmonella Culture (Stool)

    This test looks for salmonella bacteria in your stool. Having these bacteria in your stool means you have a salmonella infection.

  • Scleral Buckling

    Scleral buckling is a type of eye surgery to correct a detached retina and restore vision.

  • Semen Analysis

    This is a series of tests that looks at how healthy your semen and sperm are.

  • Sensory Evoked Potentials Studies

    Evoked potentials studies measure electrical activity in the brain in response to stimulation of sight, sound, or touch.

  • Septal Myectomy

    Septal myectomy is a type of open-heart surgery for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (thick heart muscle). It decreases symptoms of the condition.

  • Serotonin

    This test is sometimes used to help diagnose carcinoid syndrome, a problem that can happen in people with carcinoid tumors.

  • Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (Blood)

    This test measures the level of SHBG in your blood. It can help find out whether you have abnormal testosterone levels.

  • Sigmoidoscopy

    A sigmoidoscopy is a diagnostic test to check the lower part of your colon or large intestine (the sigmoid colon). This part of your colon is close to your rectum and anus.

  • Sinus X-ray

    A sinus X-ray is an imaging test that uses X-rays to look at your sinuses. The sinuses are air-filled pockets (cavities) near your nasal passage.
