The community’s demand for ambulatory surgical care has grown dramatically during the past decade. Today, nearly 75 percent of the hospital’s current surgical volume is delivered on an outpatient basis. We have responded by developing a state-of-the-art Outpatient Surgery Center (a $7.4 million investment in the community) designed to deliver affordable, high-quality care. Due to increased demand, our center is currently undergoing a $4.5 million expansion, scheduled to open in mid-2008.
The contemporary center fosters the most pleasant outpatient experience possible. Its innovative patient-centered layout maximizes comfort by treating most patients for pre-and post-operative care in 20 private stations.
The center features four spacious operating suites, endoscopy and eye-laser suites, a cataract suite, minor procedure suite, and areas for pre-admission assessments and clinical support. It also includes a 10-bed Phase-I Post-Anesthesia Unit, and a private room ideal for pediatric care.
Procedures performed at the facility include, but are not limited to, orthopaedic, plastic/reconstructive, eye, ear-nose-throat (ENT), oral and other surgeries. Many of the procedures are performed using minimally invasive technology involving small, fast-healing incisions that require less onsite recovery care than traditional procedures. Because less time is spent at the hospital, patients have the convenience of recovering at home with their loved ones.
