Using a patient-centered philosophy, the unit’s treatment team—including psychiatrists, psychologists, registered nurses, social workers, case managers and milieu therapists—provides general psychiatric, geropsychiatric and medical/psychiatric care close to the patient’s home and family physician.
Beginning with a comprehensive assessment, an individualized treatment plan is created for each patient. The plan may include psychotherapy, medication, individual and family education and support, stress management, fitness and wellness programs, as well as group, occupational and recreational therapy.
Following discharge, patients are supported by individual aftercare programming for optimum health. Through UHHS Laurelwood Hospital and Counseling Centers, patients have access to partial hospital programs, support groups and an extensive network of professionals and facilities throughout Northeast Ohio.
