Cancer Rehabilitation

Personalized Rehabilitation Care for Cancer Patients and Survivors

At University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center, our cancer rehabilitation program assists cancer survivors in dealing with physical, emotional, and social issues that may affect their quality of life and daily function. The program is geared toward meeting the personal needs of each individual.

Goals of cancer rehab may include:

  • Managing pain
  • Improving endurance
  • Increasing mobility
  • Addressing cognitive issues
  • Providing education and resources for other issues

Clinicians utilize specific exercise protocols, endurance training, balance systems, and cognitive techniques to address the person’s symptoms. Our ultimate aim is to work with each person to maximize functional independence and quality of life for their day-to-day life.

STAR Certification

Cancer rehabilitation at UH Geauga Medical Center is a STAR Program® certified facility. STAR certification is the gold standard in cancer rehabilitation for hospitals and cancer centers that offer multidisciplinary survivorship care.

Lymphedema Therapy

At UH Geauga Medical Center, we also offer lymphatic therapy for cancer patients who suffer from lymphedema. Our certified lymphedema specialist can address the unique needs of each individual. We utilize the most effective, non-evasive treatment for lymphedema called Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT), which can help decrease edema and improve daily function.
