For nearly 70 years, University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center, a Campus of UH Regional Hospitals, has served the residents of Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga and Trumbull counties and the towns of Chesterland, Newbury, Bainbridge, Burton, Chardon, Middlefield, Thompson, Montville, Perry, Madison, Painesville, Bristolville, West Farmington, North Bloomfield, Courtland, Orwell, Windsor, Wayne and Rome.

 

We offer urgent care and emergency room services, a Level 3 Trauma Center, comprehensive imaging facilities, specialized medical care from nationally recognized experts and a network of physician practices at a number of convenient locations, including our main campus at UH Geauga Medical Center as well as UH Geauga Health Center, UH Chesterland Health Center and network of primary care doctors.

UH Geauga Medical Center’s medical staff includes more than 400 highly trained physicians in more than 50 medical specialties. Our network of physicians and pediatricians also provides you and your family with the nationally recognized excellence of UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, UH Seidman Cancer Center and UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute. We are accredited by DNV Healthcare Inc.

History of UH Geauga

The University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center got its start in 1925 when Walter C. Corey, MD, known as the country doctor, started serving Geauga County. In the 1950s, the Corey hospital closed and the Geauga Community Hospital opened with 56-beds. Throughout the next 40 years, the Geauga Community Hospital opened two new wings accommodating more than 100 patients and enhanced diagnostic, ancillary, and support services, as well as a critical care unit.

In 1995, Geauga Community Hospital joined the University Hospitals Health System. This new membership opened the doors to medical excellence in and around Geauga County with the additions of the area’s first behavioral health unit, a $7.4 million outpatient surgery center, on-site MRI services, Center for Women’s Health, a cardiac catheterization lab, and more. During this time, UH Geauga Medical Center earned a number of accolades such as selection as one of the Top 100 Hospitals by HCIA Inc. and William Mercer, Inc., and as one of the nation’s Top 100 Hospitals by the Solucient Institute.

Most recently, the Geauga Medical Center opened up a comprehensive pain center, a lung and thoracic surgery program, a comprehensive cancer suite, and a digestive health center.
