Vichai Duangjak, MD, and Patrawadee Duangjak, MD

For Vichai Duangjak, MD, and Patrawadee Duangjak, MD, University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center was like a second home. There, Vichai, an obstetrician and gynecologist for 42 years, delivered thousands of babies and cared for many women. Meanwhile, Patrawadee, a pathologist, headed up Pathology/Laboratory.

After almost half a century of working in their respective fields, the Duangjaks are now enjoying retirement. However, their care and concern for patients continues through a gift to establish the Women with Cancer Fund for Patient Navigator within UH Seidman Cancer Center at UH Geauga Medical Center. Their gift created a new position, which they hope will continue for years to come and serve to inspire others to give to this fund.

The couple's personal legacy is all about helping others. Their gift complements the Patrawadee Duangjak, MD, Endowed Fund for Training and Education at UH Geauga Medical Center, which was established in 2011 to provide ongoing training and continuing education to employees in patient care services.

Retirement provides Drs. Duangjak more flexible time to continue professional involvement and pleasure. Vichai, a longtime Rotarian, is a marathon runner. Patrawadee enjoys gardening. Although both remain involved in the medical profession as volunteers in Thailand – teaching young physicians, consulting with hospitals and supporting high school children – their hearts remain with the Geauga community.
