The Center for Rehabilitation Services
The Center for Rehabilitation Services at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. Our licensed therapists serve patients ranging from seniors recovering from strokes to teens and adults dealing with sports injuries. Each patient is assessed to identify his or her rehabilitation needs, and a personalized treatment plan is created based on the patient's goals, condition, and abilities.
Interaction with the therapist begins during a patient’s evaluation and continues throughout the patient’s treatment and recovery. Our therapists:
- Evaluate each patient and ensure a line of communication exists between the patient, physician, surgeon, and other team members
- Design individualized strength-building, flexibility, and range of motion exercise programs
- Educate patients on their condition and on future injury prevention
- Provide encouragement and support to the patient throughout the treatment and rehabilitation process
- Fabricate custom splints if necessary
- Help patients manage pain
- Oversee wound care
- Watch for signs of complications, inflammation, and swelling
At Geauga Medical Center we utilize various therapies, such as superficial and deep heat treatments, cold whirlpool traction, massage therapy, and exercise programs using state-of-the-art equipment to help our patients reach their goals.
The goals of rehabilitation include:
- Increase independence
