Emergency Center

An accident can happen anywhere; healing begins at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center. When unforeseen injury or illness require urgent medical care, the Norma N. Chapman Emergency Center is equipped to provide rapid, thorough evaluation and treatment for nearly any traumatic condition, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Every year, more than 16,000 people are seen in our Emergency Department. The department's triage protocol is designed to assess, treat and release patients in the most convenient and appropriate manner possible.

Named after lifelong Chardon resident Norma N. Chapman, our new and expanded Emergency Center is twice as large as the previous facility and incorporates the latest technology while allowing for greater patient privacy and comfort.

Led by board-certified physicians, our emergency medical professionals are well trained in cardiac resuscitation, treatment of cardiac dysrhythmias and management of myocardial infarction (heart attack), including the use of thrombolytic (TPA) therapy. Moreover, the emergency team is supported by a full array of diagnostic equipment and resources.

UH Geauga Medical Center is the region's leader in training and emergency care protocol development. Our emergency staff works closely with the region's 20-plus Emergency Medical Service (EMS) providers. The Emergency Center provides numerous training programs, including continuing medical education, CPR training, Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
