About Our Survey

At University Hospitals, we believe in providing patients with all the information they need to make educated decisions about their health care and to choose the right doctor to meet their needs. That is why we partner with the independent patient satisfaction company Press Ganey to survey patients about their experiences at UH facilities and with UH physicians. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of care and are dedicated to creating a positive patient experience for every individual who sees a UH doctor.

I have been to Dr. Shenk in previous years. He has always given me great care. He is a wonderful doctor.

He speaks in several tones. he will start out speaking at a good volume and then he starts to lower his voice. This continues throughout the entire time speaking with him. I am hearing impaired and wear bilateral hearing aids. I leave his office with a headache. Its very hard to hear him and make sense of what he is saying about this new diagnosis. My husband struggles to hear him and he is not hearing impaired. In the two times I have been there, I have been asked about current symptoms I am experiencing but never have I been asked about my medical history, just my cancer history. I feel my medical history is pertinent.

Experience with Dr. Shenk was very positive. He reduced my anxiety, and I left feeling lie my problem had been addressed and I knew what was wrong.

I was so impressed by Dr. Shenk. I was incredibly nervous prior to my appointment, and left feeling much better. I had a better understanding of is going on with my breast and a plan moving forward. He was professional, straightforward and kind.

Industry Relationships

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.

UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.

As of December 31, 2015, Robert Shenk, MD did not disclose any Outside Relationships with Industry.
