Sleep Studies Offered

Sleep Studies at UH Elyria Medical Center

The following sleep tests are offered at UH Elyria Medical Center Sleep Lab:

  • Maintenance of wakefulness test (MWT)
  • Multiple sleep latency test (MSLT)*
  • Polysomnogram (PSG) study*
  • Positive airway pressure (PAP) titration*
  • Split Night Study

*The PSG, PAP TITRATION and the split night studies can also be conducted during the day for patients who work a night shift position.

Sleep labs diagnose sleep disorders by closely monitoring the physiological signs exhibited during the different stages of sleep. These measurements include:

After the sleep study, a physician will make recommendations about the most relevant course of treatment to correct the sleep disorder. A common treatment option that remains highly successful is continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), which promotes uninterrupted sleep by introducing pressure into the airway.
