ELYRIA, OH – University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center has received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR ACTION Registry–GWTG Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2014. UH Elyria Medical Center is one of only 256 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor.

ELYRIA – University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center Home Care Agency has been named a Top Agency of the 2014 HomeCare Elite™, a recognition of the top-performing home health agencies in the United States. Now in its ninth year, the HomeCare Elite identifies the top 25 percent of Medicare-certified agencies and highlights the top 100 and top 500 agencies overall. Winners are ranked by an analysis of publicly available performance measures in quality outcomes, best practice (process measure) implementation, patient experience (Home Health CAHPS®), quality improvement and consistency, and financial performance. In order to be considered, an agency must be Medicare-certified and have data for at least one outcome in Home Health Compare. Out of 9,994 agencies considered, 2,501 are elite.

Tony Wallish Presented with Kevin C. Martin Leadership Award

ELYRIA – Donald Sheldon, MD, President of University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center, recently presented the Kevin C. Martin Leadership Award to Mr. Tony Wallish, MT (ASCP). Developed in 2005 as part of the hospital’s Rewards and Appreciation program, this annually-distributed honor recognizes leaders who consistently demonstrate the values that are essential to the organization’s success. The award was named for Mr. Kevin C. Martin, the late President and Chief Executive Officer of EMH Healthcare from 1998 until February 2009, when he succumbed to cancer.
