Overall I am very pleased with the doctor and staff. The only issue I have is trying to schedule an appointment 1 month follow up as recommended. He is so busy that there are no appointment available for several months and a few In other locations that are not convenient for me to get there. After I emailed the doctor, I was fit into his schedule for the 1 month follow up.

The office staff were very kind and I saw them helping a man who was deaf by writing on paper with him; the opthalmology resident or assistant/ tech was a bit abrupt with her care and did not explain who she was or where Dr. Stokkermanns was - I initially thought he was not in the office. I am a big fan of Dr. Stokkermanns who speaks plainly and clearly and will offer you his medical advice and answer any questions.

I have a good deal of respect for Dr. Stokkermans for more reason than his medical knowledge and ability! I don't feel like just one of his appointments to deal with; I've had enough of them to recognize the difference! He knows my concern with ***, and the importance of maintaining my independence at my age! He also keeps me informed each visit of changes. I have a friend who went blind with this problem; and he sees me every six months! As I've mentioned each survey you send, it's important to me not to be treated as I have been many times over, In my years; like a patient number to see, and send back to reception as briefly as possible!!!

Industry Relationships

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.

UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
