About
Lee M. Ocuin, MD, joined University Hospitals as a faculty surgeon in the Division of Surgical Oncology in April 2021. Specializing in hepatopancreatobiliary surgery, Dr. Ocuin is also an Associate Professor of Surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He graduated cum laude from Brandeis University (Waltham, Massachusetts) in 2002, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Biology. He obtained his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine (Boston, Massachusetts) in 2006 and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Dr. Ocuin completed his general surgery residency at Emory University School of Medicine (Atlanta, Georgia) in 2014. During his time as a resident, he completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in the Department of Surgery, Hepatopancreatobiliary Section, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (New York, New York). Between 2014 and 2017, Dr. Ocuin also completed a fellowship in complex general surgical oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) and a fellowship in hepatopancreatobiliary surgery at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minnesota). His clinical and research expertise are focused on malignancies of the pancreas, liver and biliary tract. Dr. Ocuin is the principle investigator, co-PI, or site-based PI on five pending prospective clinical trials focusing on pancreatic cancer, pancreas surgery, cholangiocarcinoma and colorectal liver metastases.
Prior to joining UH and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Dr. Ocuin was the Site-Based Medical Director of the Division of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, Department of Surgery at Atrium Health - Cabarrus. He is currently the co-leader of the GI disease team at Seidman Cancer Center and the Surgical Director of the institution's Hepatic Artery Infusion Pump Program.
Dr. Ocuin is a member of various professional societies, among them the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, American College of Surgeons, Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, Society of Surgical Oncology and American Society of Clinical Oncology. In addition, he serves on the editorial boards and is a peer reviewer for multiple high-impact journals.

At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized.
