Our team at the UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry provides a full scope of psychiatric evaluation and treatment services, either directly or through referral to affiliated staff and programs. Our division offers an environment on the leading edge of treatment, research and education, with a clear focus on children and adolescents. Individual evaluation determines the best treatment for each child, and the first step we take is always getting to know your child. Unlike standard medical illnesses such as colds or earaches, emotional problems don’t always present clear-cut symptoms. However, you may become aware of behavioral or emotional inconsistencies that may be a cause of concern, including sudden anger or outburst, reduced level of communication, unexplained drop in school performance or disinterest in formerly enjoyed activities. You know your child better than anybody else does, so use the above to help determine if a call to the doctor is necessary. Remember that many emotional conditions begin with these types of symptoms and can grow more serious if left untreated. Based on the needs of your child, treatment options could include individual, group and family psychotherapy; individualized behavior therapy; psycho- pharmacotherapy; or a combination of these. We can help most difficulties by treating your child on an outpatient basis. If a higher level of care should be needed, we can help your child through affiliated programs. PSYCHOLOGY SPORTS SPORTS MEDICINE The Center for Rehabilitation Services at University Hospitals provides outpatient rehabilitation for patients who need to regain function after surgery, illness or injury. Whether you are a professional athlete, weekend warrior or little leaguer, our rehabilitation team will help you get back in the game. The rehabilitation staff at UH is fully certified and highly skilled. Our therapists work one on one with patients to optimize your rehab for the quickest recovery possible and communicate directly with the sports medicine physicians to provide the best possible care and progress to rehab appropriately. Additionally, we work with athletes to decrease pain and swelling, restore range of motion and increase strength following a sports injury or surgery. In addition, multiple services are offered for sports performance that increase speed, explosive power and jumping ability. Leading-edge services such as dry needling, blood flow restriction rehabilitation, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, Alter G treadmill training and sport-specific video analysis are additional resources to help athletes reach their fullest potential on the field of play. We offer comprehensive treatment options for both routine and more complex conditions and are able to specialize plans based on unique needs, including these targeted therapies: VINCENT CARINGI, MD UH Cleveland Medical Center Department of Psychiatry – Child/Adolescent 10524 Euclid Avenue Cleveland, Ohio 44106
