University Hospitals CompCare's mission is to prevent and manage disability from workplace injuries and illnesses and facilitate a safe, timely return-to-work. We work closely with, and provide services to, employers, injured workers, medical providers and the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation.
We assign our staff of customer service representatives, nurse case managers and provider billing representatives to work in cross-functional teams that serve specific client employers. As a result, employers and employees always get personalized customer service. Our teamwork reduces their administrative burden and helps control workers' compensation costs.
UH CompCare's services cover five areas:
- Customer service – Consists of general administrative functions such as coordinating the claim-filing process and facilitating communication among participants in the medical management process.
- Case management – Includes reviewing proposed medical procedures, and facilitating effective treatment, rehabilitation and return-to-work.
- Provider Billing – Works behind the scenes with doctors, hospitals and other providers to facilitate the billing and payment process.
- Training and education – We provide client seminars and site visits, educational guides, handbooks and fact sheets.
- Information services – Includes our easy to use web site that provides 24/7 access to claims data and custom reporting capabilities that meet all of our clients needs.

UH CompCare is a wholly owned subsidiary of University Hospitals. We provide comprehensive case management services to injured workers whose employers have selected UH CompCare as their Ohio Worker Compensation MCO. Our services promote the rendering of high quality, cost-effective medical treatment that focuses on minimizing the physical, emotional, and financial impact of a work-related injury or illness and promotes a safe return to work.
UH CompCare's medical case managers are all registered nurses and certified case managers. Using a team approach to service, each case manager, along with a Customer Service Representative and a Provider Billing Representative, is assigned to specific employers to enhance the development of a relationship and better understand employer specific needs. UHCC case managers are available for interaction with employers, injured workers and health care providers.
