For those who have suffered an illness, injury or other health condition, physical therapy at University Hospitals’ rehabilitation services in Cleveland, Ohio helps them return to their normal activities.
Individualized Assessments and Plans of Care
Our physical therapists perform a comprehensive evaluation to identify a patient’s limitations in range of motion, strength, balance, coordination, posture, mobility, and causes of pain. Once the individual’s problem areas are identified, the therapist works collaboratively with the patient to develop goals and treatment interventions that may include:
- Electrical stimulation
- Manual techniques
- Thermal modalities such as moist heat or ice
- Patient education
- Trigger point dry needling
Physical therapy treatment is provided during one-on-one visits in our outpatient locations. In addition, patients are provided with a home program to maximize the benefits of therapy. The patient is considered the most important member of the treatment team, and education is an essential part of every patient’s physical therapy program.
Our physical therapists work closely with other health care providers including but not limited to orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, family medicine physicians, neurologists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists to ensure the highest quality, coordinated care for our patients.
