Emergency Radiology

Diagnostic Imaging and Evaluation for Emergency Department Patients

The Division of Emergency Radiology provides interpretation of diagnostic studies performed in the emergency department at the level 1 trauma center of University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and the network of emergency departments throughout the health system. The emergency radiology team consists of board certified radiologists with fellowship training in multiple subspecialties, including abdominal and body imaging, musculoskeletal radiology and neuroradiology.

Emergency radiologists specialize in the interpretation of studies performed in the work up of acutely injured and ill patients. Our emergency radiologists interpret all imaging modalities performed in the evaluation of patients in the emergency department, including computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, nuclear medicine studies and plain radiography. In addition to interpretation of imaging studies, radiologists serve as a resource for the emergency room physician in the selection of the appropriate diagnostic studies in the work up of their patients.

The Division of Emergency Radiology participates in the education of radiology residents and also offers a one-year emergency radiology fellowship.
