Residency Program

The Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Orthopaedic Surgery Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) to accept eight categorical orthopaedic surgery candidates each year. The program fulfills all the criteria for the successful graduate to sit for Part I of their Board examination given by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS).

The residency takes place among four affiliated hospitals in Cleveland: UH Cleveland Medical Center(which includes UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital) the Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center, MetroHealth Medical Center, and UH Ahuja Medical Center in addition to a number of community hospitals and outpatient surgical centers.

Upon completion of the residency program, graduates are prepared to take their expertise to top academic medical centers and hospitals all over the country. Graduates of our program match into competitive fellowship programs and go on to academic and private-practice positions. Case Western/University Hospitals alumni also hold leadership positions in many national orthopaedic organizations.
