Hand and Upper Extremity

James Robert Anderson, MD, Assistant Professor

Dr. Anderson’s basic research focuses on quantifying anatomic variation of the bones of the upper extremity and applying the data to evaluate and optimize the designs of surgical implants. These include both joint replacements for arthritis and plates for fracture repair. This is done in cooperation with Dr. Cooperman, using the Hamann-Todd osteologic collection at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. On the clinical side, he is involved in after-market evaluation of pyrolytic carbon joint replacements for the interphalangeal joints.
