Assays
The University Hospitals Translational Laboratory has developed a series of genotypic and phenotypic HIV assays to help health care providers monitor HIV-infected individuals. Our innovative and all-inclusive HIV genotyping assay (DEEPGEN™HIV), based on next-generation sequencing (NGS), determines susceptibility to protease, reverse transcriptase, integrase and maturation inhibitors, as well as HIV-1 co-receptor tropism. This test is complemented by highly sensitive and specific phenotypic HIV drug resistance (VIRALARTS™HIV) and co-receptor tropism (VERITROP™) assays based on a novel and proprietary yeast-cloning technology. We are also working on the development and implementation of NGS-based molecular diagnostic assays (i.e., cancer panels) to help design more effective cancer-specific therapeutic strategies.
