Residency Rotations
The residents are assigned to rotations at all of the participating hospitals for specific periods of time. The residents gain hands-on experience in a graduated and progressive manner.

In the integrated program, first year residents complete rotations in
  • neurosurgery,
  • the burn unit,
  • oral surgery,
  • vascular surgery,
  • trauma,
  • general surgery,
  • dermatology,
  • otolaryngology,
  • general plastic surgery,
  • transplant, and
  • critical care at UHC and Metro.
  • Second year residents complete rotations in
  • general surgery,
  • plastic surgery (hand),
  • trauma,
  • anesthesia,
  • oral surgery,
  • transplant, and
  • critical care at UHC, Metro, and VA.

Third year residents complete rotations in
  • general surgery,
  • otolaryngology,
  • pediatric surgery,
  • the burn unit,
  • vascular surgery, and
  • the breast service at UHC, Metro, and VA.

Fourth year residents complete a 6 month rotation in
  • general plastic surgery (UHC and Zeeba) and
  • the research lab (UHC).

Fifth year residents complete a 6 month rotation in
  • pediatric plastic surgery (RBC) and
  • general/hand plastic surgery (VA and Lutheran).

Sixth year residents complete a 6 month rotation in
  • general, breast, and
  • aesthetic plastic surgery (UHC and Zeeba) and
  • general reconstructive plastic surgery (Metro).

All residents will serve as chief resident during the last 12 months of their training period.
