| Description: |
The NIMH Center for Bipolar Disorder of University Hospitals oCase Medical Center and Case School of Medicine is conducting clinical research on the treatment of symptoms related to Bipolar Disorder, a mood disorder that affects more than four million people in the United States. This research study focuses on the treatment of symptoms of bipolar disorder in participants who have not been diagnosed, or who have been previously diagnosed with major depression. The goal of the research study is to look at the effectiveness and safety of Depakote ER which has been used for depressive episodes and anxiety. This study will last for 6 weeks, with an additional 6 months of treatment for participants who have a good response to the study medication. |
| Criteria: |
Participants must be 18 years of age and older and be experiencing symptoms of Bipolar Disorder including sadness, loss of interest in activities, sleep disturbances, lack of concentration, excessive energy, and inappropriate anger or irritability. |
