That is why UH Transplant Institute has established a satellite Education and Evaluation Center in Akron, Ohio, bringing its renowned transplant services to Summit County and surrounding communities in northeast Ohio.

A superior team of transplant surgeons and other specialists from University Hospitals Case Medical Center provides services at our satellite location, which include:

  • Determination of transplant candidacy
  • Partnership with local providers to improve timely referral
  • Patient education about organ failure and kidney transplant

The actual transplant procedure and follow-up care are performed at UH Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

Research and Clinical Trials

Patients in the kidney transplant program at UH benefit from the extensive clinical and academic research being conducted at UH Transplant Institute, in conjunction with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. We also offer a number of clinical trials sponsored by National Institutes of Health and Clinical Trials in Organ Transplantation (CTOT).
