Advanced Concussion Rehab Allows Athletes To Compete Safely
Concussions are increasingly common among youth playing team sports. Whether from a helmet-to-helmet tackle during a football game or a hard fall on the gymnastics mat, we now understand that concussions are serious and can stop any athlete in their tracks.
At University Hospitals Case Medical Center’s Rehab Services, trained therapists evaluate and assist athletes with concussions to return to normal function safely.
Our therapists assess the athlete’s base level and help them to exercise without symptoms such as high heart rate, high or low blood pressure, nausea or ringing in the ears.
Interdisciplinary Approach to Concussion Therapy
At University Hospitals, we use a comprehensive approach to treating athletes with concussions. Along with our trained physical therapists and certified athletic trainers, we consult with other UH specialists such as neurologists, orthopedists and sports medicine physicians.
Together, our concussion rehabilitation team makes sure the athlete is cleared to compete so as to prevent more serious injury.
