This fellowship provides an educational environment in pediatric orthopaedic surgery committed to scholarship, teaching, and development of analytic skills, surgical judgment, surgical competence, and research creativity.
Efficient inpatient and outpatient facilities, laboratory resources, libraries, audiovisual and computer facilities, secretarial support, and pediatric physical and occupational therapists provide technical support. The fellowship is diversified between Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital (RB&C) and its suburban health centers. Annually ranked as one of the top children’s hospitals in the nation, RB&C is a 254-bed facility that has a Level I trauma unit and offers a diverse exposure to every aspect of pediatric orthopaedics.
Emphasis is placed on teaching at all levels. Conferences are given regularly under the direction of both the Fellow and the faculty. Experience is gained by five full days of elective pediatric orthopaedics and spine surgery per week in addition to frequent emergency cases. The Fellow participates in weekly pediatric orthopaedic and related clinics, including general, scoliosis, trauma, myelodysplasia, cerebral palsy, hand, and bone disorder.
