Virtual Colonoscopy

Virtual Colonoscopy (CT Colonography) at University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center

Virtual Colonoscopy

Dr. Karin Herrmann describes a new, less-invasive advanced screening technique known as a virtual colonoscopy.

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in both men and women. Most colon cancers begin as a polyp, which usually takes 5 to 15 years to convert into cancer. Virtual colonoscopy is a tool to find those polyps.

UH Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood, Ohio, is offering virtual colonoscopy through the Department of Radiology. Virtual colonoscopy is an alternative to traditional colonoscopy done with an optical scope. The biggest benefit of virtual colonoscopy is that the scan typically takes only 10 minutes to complete, with no sedation or recovery time, leaving patients free to resume their daily activities.

Schedule a Virtual Colonoscopy Appointment

Patient should talk with their primary care physician or gastroenterologist to see if the virtual colonoscopy is right for them. A physician’s order is required to schedule the exam.
