Fifth Anniversary Celebration

Fifth Anniversary Celebration at UH Ahuja Medical Center

University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center was the first new stand-alone hospital to be built in Cuyahoga County in 30 years when it opened its doors to patients on March 1, 2011. The hospital was named for UH benefactor Monte and Usha Ahuja and their family. As University Hospitals celebrates 150 years, UH Ahuja Medical Center looks forward to providing families with the highest-quality care – for many years to come.

The 53-acre health care campus in Beachwood, Ohio, features a 144-bed hospital and a 60,000-square-foot outpatient medical building. UH Ahuja Medical Center was designed for maximum comfort and efficiency. Built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver standards, its environmentally sustainable materials and design elements continue to minimize the medical center’s energy costs.

UH Ahuja Medical Center has become the provider of simple to complex care, offering an array of inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services, including 24/7 adult and pediatric emergency care, UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s inpatient and pediatric outpatient surgery, intensive care services, and traditional as well as minimally invasive and robot-assisted surgery. Programs through UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute and UH Digestive Health Institute broaden the specialty procedures. The new comprehensive breast center uses leading-edge diagnostic tools for detecting breast cancer, including 3-D mammography, also known as tomosynthesis.

UH Ahuja Medical Center’s ongoing Mayor’s Initiative for Building Lifesaving Communities saves lives through its donations of vital medical equipment to local fire departments and EMS squads, as well as by teaching valuable lifesaving skills and providing free CPR/AED training for the public. Local school efforts include Beachwood Medical Academy, the first academic program that provides exposure to advanced health care career options for high school students, and the New Leaf program at Warrensville Heights Middle School, where a salad bar was installed in the cafeteria to supply students with free fresh fruits and vegetables.
