University Hospitals Total Waste Summary Report

University Hospitals is tracking and reporting waste management efforts to drive continuous improvement in reducing the waste we send to landfill – with a focus on recycling and construction and demolition debris diversion – and decreasing our generation of regulated medical waste. The goals of our integrated waste management program are to minimize waste, reduce costs, and increase education and awareness among UH employees. As part of our goal to achieve continuous improvement in waste management, waste audits are performed regularly to identify areas for improvement.

15 Environmental Excellence awards

UH received 15 Environmental Excellence awards from Practice Greenhealth, including the prestigious System for Change award, for our systemwide achievements in sustainability in 2013.
