Earth Day Tree Planting UH Richmond Medical Center

Earth Day Tree Planting - UH Richmond Medical Center

Involving employees in environmental awareness is something that UH Richmond Medical Center does exceptionally well. UH Richmond used Earth Day 2013 to educate, inspire, excite, and engage staff about Sustainability. Representatives from UH Richmond created an Earth Week Fair that featured information about local community recycling and disposal programs as well as Earth Day facts and educational material. The staff encouraged employees to sign the UH Sustainability Pledge board which is displayed in their hall as a symbol of their commitment to Sustainability. Staff also invited employees to plant trees while giving away seed cards and hosting a drawing for a bag of locally grown produce. Finally, employees were offered proper battery disposal, confidential paper shredding, and the opportunities to purchase memberships in a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program.

15 Environmental Excellence awards

UH received 15 Environmental Excellence awards from Practice Greenhealth, including the prestigious System for Change award, for our systemwide achievements in sustainability in 2013.
