Golf Event Raises Over $30,000 for UH Portage Medical Center

Ravenna, Ohio – Supporters from throughout Northeast Ohio participated in the Portage Medical Center Foundation’s 22nd Annual “A Different Kind of Golf Outing” event scramble on July 13 at Windmill Lakes Golf Course in Ravenna.

The event raised over $30,000 for the Foundation, which supports programs and services that benefit patient care at University Hospital Portage Medical Center. Since its inception, the golf outing has raised over $580,000 for the hospital.

The Presenting Sponsor for the event was Altercare Centers for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care. Tournament Sponsors were Allen Aircraft, Dr. Robert Egdell and Inpatient Medical Services.

Hole sponsors were AVI Food Systems, The Burbick Foundation, CliftonLarsenAllen LLP, Direction Home-Area Agency on Aging, Judge Joseph Giulitto, Perspectus Architecture, Portage Community Bank, and Record-Courier (Gateway News, Aurora Advocate).

Other signature sponsors included Guido’s of Ravenna (Lunch Sponsor) and Sydmor’s Jewelry in Ravenna (Hole In One Sponsor). Several additional individuals and businesses participated by providing foursomes, cart sponsorships and prize donations.

Participants enjoyed an 18 hole scramble followed by dinner and program that included drawings for featured raffle prizes. Proceeds from the golf outing support the Foundation’s unrestricted fund.

Tournament winners included the Mens foursome of John Gusz, M.D., Scott Smith, M.D., Ernie Klein and Jeff Hicks, along with the Mixed Team foursome of Maureen Wegenek, Mark Yankovich, Bill Stemple and Deb Paisley.
