Tuesday, May 17, 2016

Ravenna, Ohio – University Hospitals has named M. Steven Jones to serve as President of UH Portage Medical Center.

The hospital, previously known as Robinson Memorial Hospital, joined the University Hospitals health system in 2015. UH has already begun to invest in UH Portage Medical Center by adding services from UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, UH Seidman Cancer Center and UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute, bringing nationally recognized care to area patients and families.

In his new role, which is effective immediately, Mr. Jones and his team are concentrating on physician recruitment, quality of care, patient satisfaction, and employee and physician engagement. Mr. Jones is also President of UH Geauga Medical Center in Chardon.

“Steve is a seasoned and successful health care leader in our region. His appointment will strengthen our position and ability to continue delivering the highest quality of care in Northeast Ohio,” said Richard A. Hanson, President, UH Community Hospitals and Ambulatory Network. “Our goal is to enhance health care access for Portage County residents, providing them the most comprehensive services close to home.”

Mr. Jones joined UH in 2006 as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of UH Geauga Medical Center and was named President in 2010. Under his leadership, the hospital has been nationally recognized for delivering superior-quality care and has added services to meet growing community needs. Recent service enhancements include expanding UH Seidman Cancer Center at UH Geauga Medical Center, achieving Level III trauma center status, and creating the region’s first hospital-based medical stabilization program for substance addiction.
