University Hospitals Appoints Charlotte Wray President of UH Elyria Medical Center

CLEVELAND, OH – University Hospitals (UH) has appointed Charlotte Wray, MSN, RN, MBA, as President of UH Elyria Medical Center.

Since 2009, Ms. Wray has served as UH Elyria Medical Center’s Vice President of Clinical Operations, Information Systems and Chief Clinical and Information Officer. During her 25-year tenure with the hospital, she has also held the roles of Vice President, Clinical Operations; Director of Cardiovascular Services and Clinical Informatics; Nurse Manager, Critical Care; and Clinical Nurse, Intensive Care Unit. Her appointment as President is effective today, Sept. 28.

“Char has been an integral member of UH Elyria Medical Center’s senior executive team for years, and is widely known and respected both within the hospital and throughout Lorain County for her thought leadership,” said Donald Sheldon, MD, Regional President, Community Hospitals, University Hospitals. “Her genuine compassion for our patients, coupled with her drive to move UH Elyria Medical Center forward, will undoubtedly yield success.”

Ms. Wray’s track record of leading strategic initiatives at UH Elyria Medical Center is strong, including spearheading a $40 million electronic medical record project to unite three campuses of the hospital, various ambulatory facilities and numerous physician office sites. Under her guidance, the hospital met government meaningful use guidelines and aligned employed and community-based physicians through an electronic medical record adoption strategy. She has provided leadership and expert skills within a variety of organizational structures to build, promote and inspire high-performing leadership, technology, clinical and support teams across the organization.

In addition to holding master’s degrees in both nursing and business administration, Ms. Wray is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a Certified Nursing Executive by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is also a graduate of the UH Leadership Academy, an 18-month program designed specifically for UH executives in conjunction with the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University.

A resident of Wakeman, Ms. Wray is heavily involved with the American Heart Association, serving as the 2015 Lorain County Heart Walk Chairperson as well as a 2015 Go Red Campaign Corporate Team member. As a graduate of Lorain County Community College (LCCC), Ms. Wray serves on LCCC Foundation’s Health Careers Advisory Committee and Vision Refresh Council.
