Saturday, June 20, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

PARMA, OHIO – University Hospitals Parma Medical Center will be the exclusive collaborator with the City of Broadview Heights when it presents its annual health fair in the city, which also is the future location of UH’s new outpatient health center and ER.

The health fair will take place on Saturday, June 20, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Broadview Center, 9543 Broadview Road, Broadview Heights. In addition to UH’s MedEvac helicopter and screenings for blood pressure, glucose and bone density, UH Parma Medical Center will present information on many of its programs, including cardiac rehabilitation, therapy services, senior driver assessment, bariatric surgery and metabolic weight loss, geriatric psychiatry and hospice.

Two physicians will give informational talks during the morning in the Willow Room at Broadview Center:

  • Family Practitioner Jennifer Wurst, MD, will speak on “Staying Healthy as a Family” at 9:30 a.m.
  • Orthopaedic Surgeon Brett McCoy, MD, will discuss “Senior Athletes” at 10:30 a.m.

“The City of Broadview Heights is excited to be offering a joint venture with University Hospitals Parma Medical Center,” said Amy Jo Washabaugh, Director of Human Resources for the City of Broadview Hts. “Prevention education and early detection are major factors of good health.

By offering free screenings to the community, educating them on specific diseases and the multidisciplinary teams offered at UH, we then improve community health and meet the goals of both entities.”

In the fall of 2016, UH will open a $28 million state-of-the-art outpatient health center and freestanding emergency department at I-77 and Route 82. This outpatient facility will complement that services of UH Parma Medical Center. Mayor Samuel Alai welcomed the news when it was announced last year, saying: “As one of the most forward-thinking health care systems in the country, University Hospitals will provide extraordinary benefits to our community for years to come. This is an exciting opportunity for significant and positive investments that will keep our community vibrant and healthy.”
