Provides immediate access to diagnosis, intervention and care of a wide range of heart conditions

Bedford and Richmond Heights, Ohio – University Hospitals (UH) Bedford and Richmond medical centers, campuses of UH Regional Hospitals, have enhanced access to outstanding cardiology expertise at their UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute facilities. Cardiologist and electrophysiologist Indiresha R. Iyer, MD, has joined the hospital to offer state-of-the-art diagnostic and interventional capabilities to patients close to home.

Dr. Iyer is board certified in cardiovascular medicine and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. He completed his advanced fellowship training in electrophysiology at University Hospitals Case Medical Center. “I have an excellent opportunity to bring cardiac care to the Bedford and Richmond Heights communities, especially for people who have difficulty traveling long distances,” says Dr. Iyer, who began practicing at both hospitals in August.

Dr. Iyer offers general cardiology and electrophysiology care five days a week at UH Bedford Medical Center. He currently focuses on electrophysiology-related conditions at UH Richmond Medical Center one day per week.

“My cardiology services address risk factors that cause heart problems,” says Dr. Iyer. “That includes treating high blood pressure and high cholesterol as well as caring for people who already have chronic heart disease due to heart attack, congestive heart failure and other conditions.”

Dr. Iyer’s electrophysiology expertise encompasses providing care to patients with irregular, slow or rapid heart rhythm and palpitations; to patients who are candidates for or already have a cardiac implant such as a pacemaker, defibrillator or resynchronization device.

At UH Bedford and Richmond medical centers, patients have easy access to a full range of testing and technology including echocardiography; stress testing employing both treadmills and pharmacological agents; heart monitors and implants; diagnostic cardiac catheterization; and coronary angiography.

“I am pleased to offer our communities the outstanding expertise that Dr. Iyer developed and refined at University Hospitals,” says Robert G. David, President, UH Bedford and Richmond medical centers. “Our patients deserve the very best heart care nearby, and Dr. Iyer delivers it.” To schedule a convenient cardiology consultation with Dr. Iyer at UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute at UH Bedford Medical Center or UH Richmond Medical Center, call 440-735-3655.
