Will provide continuity of care for patients of retiring gynecologist Shin Huang, MD and add obstetric services

ASHTABULA COUNTY – This summer, Sam Ahuja, MD, FACOG, OB/GYN, will expand his University Hospitals (UH) obstetrics and gynecology practice in Ashtabula County. He currently sees patients near UH Conneaut Medical Center at 235-A Parrish Road, and at the Geneva Medical Office Building on the UH Geneva Medical Center campus, 890 West Main Street, Suite 102.

As of July 1, Dr. Ahuja and Associates will begin consulting with patients on women’s health issues and with mothers-to-be about their pregnancies in the Ashtabula office vacated by retiring gynecologist Shin Huang, MD, located at 2709 Lake Avenue.

Dr. Ahuja’s patients will continue to have access to his full range of state-of-the-art gynecologic procedures. They will be able to have mammograms and ultrasounds at UH Conneaut and Geneva medical centers, and digital X-rays and ultrasounds at UH Ashtabula Health Center, 2131 Lake Avenue. Dr. Ahuja’s obstetrics patients will deliver their babies under his care at UH Geauga Medical Center in Chardon.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to carry on and enhance the continuity and quality of women’s health care that Dr. Huang’s patients have experienced over the last four decades,” says Dr. Ahuja, who has nearly 20 years of experience as a board-certified and fellowship-trained OB/GYN. “Adding the dimension of obstetrics will also provide those patients with access to a complete spectrum of state-of-the-art care close to home at UH Conneaut, Geneva and Geauga medical centers.”

Dr. Ahuja, as Medical Director of Gynecologic Services at the three community hospitals, specializes in several leading-edge gynecologic procedures including alternatives to hysterectomy and minimally invasive surgery to correct chronic pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. “Most importantly, as we move to our new Ashtabula location we urge our patients and every woman in the community to schedule their annual preventive examinations,” says Dr. Ahuja.

“We are excited to have Dr. Sam Ahuja expand his OB/GYN practice in Ashtabula County and increase his presence at both of our community hospitals here,” says M. Steven Jones, President, UH Conneaut and Geneva medical centers. “His personalized, compassionate philosophy of care complements his tremendous expertise to maximize the wellness of women across our region.”
