NRHA ranking reflects the community hospital’s exceptional patient outcomes

ASHTABULA COUNTY – University Hospitals (UH) Conneaut Medical Center has been named one of the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) in the nation. It scored highest among critical access hospitals on iVantage Health Analytics’ Hospital Strength Index™ in the “Patient Perspective” category. The 2013 rankings were announced by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA). UH Conneaut Medical Center officially received its recognition at a ceremony held during the NRHA Critical Access Hospital Conference on October 3 in Austin, Texas.

The full-service hospital’s superior Patient Perspective result is a rating of hospital performance based on the percentile rank on two Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) measures – “Overall Rating” and “Highly Recommended.” UH Conneaut Medical Center is the only hospital on the 2013 top 20 Patient Perspective list from the four-state region that includes Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Pennsylvania.

“This award is the culmination of hard work, compassion and dedication to the patients we are privileged to serve,” says Robert G. David, President, UH Conneaut and Geneva medical centers. “Every employee and every physician can take pride in knowing they are in the top 20 out of 1,323 critical access hospitals in the United States.”
