University Hospitals Geneva Medical Center takes top national award for High-Value Health Care performance

Hospital is one of five winners nationally; UH Conneaut Medical Center is one of 17 finalists

Ashtabula CountyUniversity Hospitals (UH) Geneva Medical Center has been selected as a 2013 Premier QUEST® “Award for High-Value Healthcare” winner. The recognition was bestowed by Premier Healthcare Alliance. Its QUEST program represents the most comprehensive hospital collaborative in America, with more than 340 hospitals across 40 states.

UH Geneva Medical Center was named one of five winners based on the hospital’s top performance according to the criteria in all six dimensions of QUEST:

  • Reducing mortality by at least 31 percent.
  • Reducing the average cost of care to less than $5,690 per discharge.
  • Reliably delivering evidence-based care measures to patients in the areas of heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care at least 95 percent of the time.
  • Improving the hospital experience so patients favorably rate their stay and would recommend the facility at least 73 percent of the time.
  • Reducing preventable harm events.
  • Reducing readmissions by at least 12 percent.

The award recognizes medical facilities that actively work to improve the health of their communities by collaborating to offer high-quality, cost-effective health care. In addition to UH Geneva Medical Center’s top honor, UH Conneaut Medical Center was named one of 17 QUEST Award finalists. Winners were announced on June 12th at Premier’s Annual Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition in San Antonio, Texas.
