University Hospitals Chemotherapy Services: Now Available to Residents of Ashtabula County and Eastern Lake County

University Hospitals Conneaut Medical Center is pleased to announce the addition of chemotherapy services to locally serve the residents of Ashtabula County and eastern Lake County.

Conneaut, OHUniversity Hospitals Conneaut Medical Center is pleased to announce the addition of chemotherapy services to locally serve the residents of Ashtabula County and eastern Lake County.

Services to be provided include chemotherapy and associated infusions, transfusions, and injections.

Jason A. Stern, DO, a physician member of nationally recognized University Hospitals Seidman Cancer, is available to consult your treatment needs. Working together with a team of experts in surgery, medical oncology, radiation therapy and pathology, UH physicians approach each patient with a customized treatment plan utilizing the most advanced diagnostics, treatments and surgeries available. In addition, UH Seidman Cancer Center patients have access to leading edge clinical trials, infusion and radiation treatments.

Both Dr. Stern and nurse practitioner Rosanne M. Casal, MSN, CNP, OCN supervise a team of nurses and pharmacists to guide each patient through treatment and care. Dr. Stern is looking to incorporate dietary and social work services, along with both physical and occupational therapies to assist patients with their overall wellbeing.

Casal expressed the benefit of patients who see Dr. Stern can have all their diagnostic testing and their chemotherapy treatment right in their own community.

“They [patients] have the best of both worlds, the cutting edge technology of University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center and the comfort of being treated in their own community,” says Casal. “Nurses at UH Conneaut Medical Center have been specially trained within UH Seidman Cancer Center to administer chemotherapy and I am honored to be a part of the team.”

“We are extremely happy to be able to provide this service to our local community so that they can receive treatment close to home in comfortable surroundings,” says Karen McNeil, BSN, RN, Director of Patient Care Services. “We hope to provide a healing environment for our patients at a very stressful time in their lives.”
